Chapter 13: On the way back, Wang Ping'an was very...

On the way back, Wang Ping'an tactfully refrained from asking any questions.

"If you have time, you'd better get a full check-up," Wang Ping'an couldn't help advising before they parted. "Nothing the God Summoning Society studies is good."

Chu Ran nodded. "I know."

The original's first Spiritual Power Destruction was probably done by the God Summoning Society.

But why?

If the God Summoning Society's goal was to create a body that could accommodate a god's descent, what benefit was Spiritual Power Destruction to them?

A test subject with high Spiritual Power and a strong physique should have been their target.

Chu Ran walked in, thinking, and acutely sensed something was off.

She examined every inch of the room carefully—everything was in its original place, but she felt as if something had invaded.

"Cylinder, has anyone been here?" She looked at the robot butler.

"No visitors." The robot butler's electronic voice carried a hint of confusion.

Chu Ran frowned slightly, tapped open her Light Brain, and the screen displayed the surveillance footage from her home after she left.

The footage only showed the robot butler diligently sweeping and mopping the floor, and folding clothes.

Nothing seemed abnormal.

"Master, would you like some water?" The robot butler asked attentively, seeing her standing still.

Chu Ran glanced at it. "No need. You can go into hibernation."

Chu Ran entered the bedroom, threw her backpack and the black rod into the smart cleaning cabinet, then grabbed a change of clothes and went into the bathroom. She had killed someone today and needed a thorough disinfection from head to toe.

Two hours later, Chu Ran finally emerged from the bathroom feeling refreshed.

The backpack and black rod had been waiting for her in the cleaning cabinet for some time.

She opened the door and put the black rod back into the box containing Basic Creations. Inside were ones Chang He had given her, ones she had made herself, and ones she had purchased from StarNet.

The black rod was inconspicuous among them.

Chu Ran took out the Light Brains of Man Er and his subordinates from the backpack and casually tossed the remaining five Light Brains into the cabinet.

Man Er's Light Brain was an old model, lacking even a pupil scan. Just pressing the power button on the back started it up automatically.

Chu Ran was not surprised.

She opened the user information stored in the Light Brain and found there were actually two identities. One was close to Man Er's age and gender, an orphan with E-grade Spiritual Power, from a remote planet, doing manual labor. The other identity was a girl, 24 years old, F-grade Spiritual Power, both parents deceased, no education, currently unemployed.

Tsk tsk, how many shady things had he done that he needed to create a female identity?

Then she opened the Light Brain of his subordinate. The subordinate hadn't been as extravagant as Man Er; he had honestly chosen a fake identity similar to his own situation.

Chu Ran hesitated for a moment, then chose one of the subordinate's Light Brains.

Although Man Er's female identity was more convenient, who knew what Man Er had used it for? She didn't want to cause herself unnecessary trouble.

She just wanted to understand the mysterious power that appeared and disappeared at will through the preliminary selection.

The Spiritist Tournament was a major event held once every five years for the Human Federation. Even on the oldest Light Brains in the Garbage Dump, the tournament's promotional page occupied the most important position.

Chu Ran clicked in. First, there was a promotional video.

The video began with a dark, boundless universe. A planet gradually grew larger, the view zooming from a town to a house, then to humans laughing inside.

Amidst cheerful and relaxing music, there was peace and harmony.

Suddenly, a piercing scream rang out.

Blood red shrouded the entire screen, and the roars of Zerg filled the background music.

"So much food." The Zerg's eerie, cruel voice accompanied images of humans being devoured.

The music turned heavy and desperate, like howling and struggling ghosts in hell.

Suddenly, a strong drumbeat, and specks of light appeared on the screen.

As the light faded, a group of soldiers with resolute but battered expressions appeared not far away. Their military uniforms were torn, their exposed skin covered in wounds, carrying electromagnetic cannons as they charged forward.

Shells whistled, and the exploded flesh and blood of Zerg Beasts splattered.

A glimmer of hope appeared in their eyes.

But as the smoke cleared, the Zerg stood unscathed behind, looking at the humans with mocking expressions.

A strong wind rose, and the soldiers' guns and cannons transformed into various colored Divine Stone Creations.

In the next second, the Zerg and soldiers were locked in battle. Flesh, blood, death, and the smell of gunpowder composed the most intense symphony of death on the battlefield.

And this time, the Zerg were no longer invincible; the soldiers' Divine Stone Creations cut through their carapaces.

When the sun rose again, the Zerg fell one by one.

The background music became impassioned, as if after endless darkness, new life and hope had finally arrived.

One by one, Divine Tombs roared in from the distance.

The word "Spiritist," like a falling star, radiated golden light and appeared in the center of the video.
