Chapter 13: On the way back, Wang Ping'an was very... (2)

Chu Ran poked the screen. The video faded, and the official webpage appeared.

In the middle were photos of the popular seeded contestants from the Seventh Sub-Star. Clicking on their Creations brought up detailed information.

On the right was the betting leaderboard.

Chu Ran exclaimed in surprise, "They've officially opened a casino."

Although she didn't recognize anyone on the homepage, she couldn't help clicking in to take a look.

It opened to the preliminary round results.

No wonder they were seeded contestants—their odds weren't too high.

At the top left was the registration entry.

Chu Ran clicked in and found that the preliminary selection didn't require much information. But seeing the number of registrants below, she immediately understood.

Nearly a million people had registered on the Seventh Sub-Star alone. It was easy to imagine how many were just fooling around.

Using her fake identity, Chu Ran filled in her name, age, Spiritual Power level, and the type of Creations she customarily used.

The preliminary selection was a massive filter, weeding out those who lacked strength, were slacking off, or just wanted to join the fun. Only when entering the preliminaries would the detailed identity information submitted by contestants be truly verified.

Chu Ran looked at the registration success message on her Light Brain and smiled with satisfaction. For her, it was an excellent arrangement.

Competition information notifications wouldn't be sent until the night before the Spiritist Tournament began. The main control system would randomly match opponents; their strength was purely a matter of luck.

After finishing the registration, Chu Ran tossed the three Light Brains into the cabinet and pulled the box of Basic Creations over to the head of the bed.

She lay down on the bed, turned off the light, felt the darkness, and closed her eyes.

After an unknown amount of time, the door suddenly opened. A rustling sound, and something entered.

It waited for a while, as if confirming Chu Ran's state.

Chu Ran's breathing was steady; she had already fallen into deep sleep.

The intruder relaxed, quietly walked to the bedside, and extended a... Chu Ran's eyes suddenly opened. She rolled to the side, the black rod instantly enlarging, and slammed it hard into the intruder.

Clang, crash—the sound of a machine being smashed.

The lights turned on from the noise.

Chu Ran sat up and looked at the fragments on the floor. It was the robot butler. The mechanical arm it had extended held a long, thin needle-like tube.

"So the robot was the problem."

In a Creation workshop not far away, Hu Meng looked at the black screen. "Found out, huh."

She lowered her head and tapped on her Light Brain to send a message: Mission failed.
