1. Who We Are & Our Principles
JadeRomance, available at https://www.jaderomance.com, is operated by jadeRomance Team with privacy, necessity, transparency, and security as core principles. This policy explains our practices when you use the website, account, reading, payment, community, and support features.
- We collect only information reasonably needed to provide, secure, support, and improve the service.
- We do not sell personal information.
- We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here or as required by law.
- Questions about this policy may be sent to [email protected].
2. Information We Collect
Depending on the features you use, we may collect information you provide, information generated through use of the service, and limited information received from third parties.
- Account and profile information: email address, display name, avatar, preferences, and information returned by an identity provider such as Google, Facebook, or Discord when you choose that sign-in method.
- Wallet and transaction information: Jade balances, top-up and purchase records, payment status, provider references, and related support records. We do not intentionally store full payment-card credentials.
- Security and technical information: IP address, approximate region, login time, browser and device type, network information, identifiers, request and diagnostic logs, and signals used for authentication, abuse prevention, and fraud detection.
- Reading and service activity: books and chapters viewed, listening activity, reading progress, bookshelf actions, search terms and history, ratings, likes, reports, notifications, support interactions, and feature preferences.
- Communications and submitted content: reviews, comments, reports, support messages, feedback, and any text, image, audio, video, or attachment you choose to provide.
3. Comments, Profiles & Media
When you submit public or support content, we process the form data together with relevant account, IP address, browser, and anti-abuse signals to publish, moderate, secure, or respond to it.
- Approved public content and the associated display name or avatar may be visible to other users.
- If an avatar or profile-image service is enabled, a one-way hash derived from your email address may be sent to that provider to locate an existing avatar, subject to the provider's privacy policy.
- Images can contain embedded metadata such as EXIF location data. Remove sensitive metadata before uploading because recipients may be able to download and inspect it.
- Automated tools or service providers may check submissions for spam, malware, abuse, or policy violations.
4. How We Use Information
We use personal information when necessary to perform our agreement with you, comply with law, pursue legitimate interests that do not override your rights, or act with your consent where required.
- Provide accounts, reading, bookshelf, synchronization, search, personalization, community, payment, support, and other requested features.
- Authenticate users, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms, investigate incidents, back up data, and protect users and infrastructure.
- Process transactions, maintain financial records, handle refunds or disputes, and communicate service or account notices.
- Diagnose faults, measure performance, develop and improve features, and conduct aggregated or de-identified analysis.
- Send optional recommendations or marketing messages only where permitted; you may opt out through available settings or the message itself.
5. Cookies & Local Storage
We use cookies and similar browser storage for sign-in, security, preferences, analytics, and—where enabled with consent—session recording or heatmaps. Our Cookie Policy provides more detail and available controls.
- Necessary storage maintains sessions, remembers security state, and supports core features.
- Preference storage remembers settings such as theme, font size, page mode, and local reading history.
- Analytics and recording technologies are activated only as described in our Cookie Policy and consent interface.
- You can control cookies through our settings and your browser, but disabling necessary storage may prevent features from working.
6. Embedded Content & Third-Party Services
Pages may contain embedded images, videos, payment interfaces, identity tools, or links provided by other services. Interacting with them may allow the provider to collect information as though you visited its service directly.
- Providers may use cookies or similar technologies and may observe interactions according to their own privacy policies.
- Third parties supporting hosting, storage, content delivery, authentication, payments, email, analytics, anti-abuse, or customer support process data for their stated role.
7. Sharing, Transfer & Disclosure
We do not sell personal information. We disclose it only where reasonably necessary and subject to appropriate safeguards.
- With service providers and professional advisers that help operate, secure, analyze, communicate, process payments for, or support the service under contractual or professional duties.
- When you direct us to share information or give valid consent.
- To comply with applicable law, court orders, or lawful requests, or to protect rights, safety, property, users, the service, or the public.
- In a merger, financing, restructuring, acquisition, insolvency, or asset transfer, subject to notice and continued protection where required.
- Aggregated or de-identified information that does not reasonably identify you may be used or shared for analytics, research, and service improvement.
8. Your Choices & Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, restrict, or object to processing, withdraw consent, and close your account.
- Use available account and privacy settings to edit profile data, clear local history, manage permissions, control cookies, or opt out of optional messages.
- You may request a portable copy of eligible personal information or deletion by contacting [email protected].
- Withdrawing consent does not affect prior lawful processing, and some features may stop working after withdrawal.
- We may verify identity and may retain or decline a request where required or permitted for legal, security, fraud-prevention, recordkeeping, or the rights of others.
- You may complain to an applicable data-protection authority if you believe your rights have not been addressed.
9. Retention
Retention depends on the type of information, the feature, account status, legal requirements, dispute risk, and security needs.
- Account and profile information is generally retained while the account is active and for a reasonable period after closure for recovery, fraud prevention, disputes, and legal compliance.
- Security and service logs are generally retained for at least 6 months; transaction records for at least 3 years from the transaction; and routine backups for at least 60 days, unless a different period is required or justified.
- Public submissions and associated moderation metadata may remain until deleted or no longer needed; legal holds and backup copies may persist longer.
- After the applicable period, information is deleted, securely destroyed, or anonymized.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information.
- Measures may include TLS/HTTPS transmission, access controls, authentication, logging, backups, data classification, encryption where appropriate, and monitoring for abuse.
- No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. Keep credentials confidential and contact [email protected] promptly if you suspect compromise.
11. International Processing
Our infrastructure and service providers may process information in countries other than yours. Privacy laws and government-access rules may differ between locations.
- Where required, we use contractual, technical, or other recognized safeguards for international transfers.
- By choosing a third-party provider, you should review that provider's locations and privacy terms.
12. Children's Privacy
The service is not directed to children under 13 and is intended for users who meet the eligibility requirements in our Terms of Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 without legally valid parental authorization.
- If you believe a child has provided personal information contrary to this policy, contact [email protected] so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
- Parents or guardians should supervise any minor permitted to use the service under applicable law.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the service, law, providers, or our practices. We will post the updated policy and revision date on this page.
- For material changes, we may also use account notices, prominent page messages, or registered email addresses and seek renewed consent where required.
